One of my favorite pictures from this year. Klein and I over a 3'6".
We conditioned throughout 2011 with our eventing goals in mind and Klein was more than physically prepared for each horse trials we attended this year. Ok, so 2011...who can complain? NOT US. We've had a great year and made some significant improvement.
Our 2011 Goals were this:
Our 2011 Goals were this:
- Of course, keep training and conditioning with a purpose. CHECK!
- Compete in at least 2 more horse trials this year. CHECK!
- Keep proving the world wrong by keeping Klein mare one of the FITTEST horses you've ever seen. CHECK!
- Continue to keep Klein happy, healthy, and interested in her work. CHECK!
- Score decent on the dressage test phase of the horse trials we attend. CHECK!
We competed in 5 horse trials and a combined training show that was dressage and xc. We traveled around New Mexico, Arizona, and made a trip to Colorado to show this year. Also, we now represent the U.S. Air Force in 3 Day Eventing.
Klein has continued to be absolutely happy, healthy, and very interested in her work!
Not only did we score decent in horse trials for the dressage phase with two 33.5's this year we also got a 28.2 at a local dressage show and had two firsts and a second at that show! This is thanks to lessons with Ann Hayes, she opened our eyes to a few things.
Overall we had a productive year and I couldn't have asked for anything more for us.
On to 2012 Goals. This year I would like to:
- First and foremost continue to keep Klein healthy, happy, super fit and interested in her work. Repetitive goal, I know, but it's #1 all day every day.
- As always, continue training and conditioning with a purpose. Always have a plan!!
- Have a smooth, uneventful move across the country once again. This time to Valdosta, GA. This will be our 3rd state in 3 years. From Hawaii to New Mexico to Georgia. Nothing about our life is boring, that's for sure!
- Compete at Training level at least once this year.
- Medal with the USEA for Novice.
- Continue representing the U.S. Air Force for Eventing.
Nothing too crazy. Hope every one had a good New Year's and that you guys set some goals for yourselves and your ponies for this upcoming year.

Have I mentioned my resolution for me and Kieran is, "to grow up to be like Stacey and Klein one day." ?
Of course, that will likely take longer than a year!
Anyway, reading about you and Klein is one of my must-reads on the list of blogs I check out. So thank you for doing this!
A good set of goals. I know you can do these!
My goals have changed a bit. I need to find out what is up with my hip, I've had pain and weakness and irritation in there for years, and now if I stand or walk for "too long" it causes a stabbing pain or everything kinda collapses. I either have a bursa irritation or whatever caused my mom to need double hip replacement at age 50! (I'm 46, and if this is the kind of pain she was in at my age, I'm a little worried!)
So my first goal is to go to the VA and try to see a doctor who will at least try to find any damage in the joint, and then maybe prescribe something for pain.
Once I get that resolved, walking and bicycling. Until then, yoga, stretching, sit ups and whatever other exercises my hip can bear.
I also need to clean out the garage so I can store the music for the Burbank Chorale. They asked me to be the new music librarian, and I think I would enjoy it. That's 2 goals for the price of one!
Then I want to help hubby pay down his credit cards. He won't set a plan and can't find time to call them for lower rates, and they're HIS cards so I really can't.... But I can help pay them, since I benefit from them too! My plan is to start with the highest interest rate, pay that one down and the entire monthly bill will be lower!
I want to write and publish at least one fan fiction or flash fiction this year.
That's about all I can handle this year, besides continue my current medical appointments and rehearsals and friendships and whatever else may come up, as well as following my favorite bloggers!
Hope 2012 is just as successful for you!
I love that picture of you and Klein...she's got her knees up to her chin and just looks totally chill about it.
Those goals sound great to me. I haven't really set any formal ones this year, because I don't know what time and energy drains the rest of the school year will provide. But I do know that I want to keep riding, keep getting better, and most importantly keep having fun!
Incorrect: The man gave ice cream to Jane and I.
Incorrect: The man gave ice cream to I.
Correct: The man gave ice cream to me.
And if you're talking about yourself and another person, then the proper form is:
The man gave ice cream to Jane and me.
I know that sounds wrong, but it's better than "Jane and I". Far better. And if you really want it to sound better, then ditch your notions of the polite and say:
The man gave ice cream to me and Jane.
Here's an easy way to tell whether you should use "Jane and I" or "Jane and me". Ask yourself: if this sentence were only about me, which would I use, "I" or "me"? Use the same pronoun when talking about yourself and another person. Seriously. That's the rule.
p.s. love the blog
Happy New Year and my most favorite is reading about how both you and Klein raise to your challenges with success :)
